AAD II, Assignment 3- Portfolio research and ideas

I did get a bit focused on the portfolio development aspect of this assignment, but after reviewing the assignment sheet (several times) it is clear that the process is what is needed.  Having a portfolio at the end of it is a nice result, especially as we need one for grad.

Documenting process is hard for me; believe it or not I am quite disorganized on paper/computer/physical media, but I have an excellent memory for things and where they go, and how they relate to each other.

Here are my written notes:  One page with a lot of arrows.

It started with the idea of working smarter, not harder, so I was going to base it on an older portfolio.  I looked at pictures from my portfolio production course and chose those that were still relevant, and good.

Stylistically (top right) I initially wanted to go with a minimalist, wall of work style, but transferred to analogue.   Tauba Auerbach (https://taubaauerbach.com/works.php) and Paul Souellis (https://soulellis.com/) were two ideas.  Souellis was interesting as he had a lot of text, but his website communicated a wall of images.

Up until now I have been working on taking the inspiration from here and building a concept that is mine.  I was thinking a large poster, then a small poster.  These did not work; too crowded, too unwieldy, too big, and too small but still too big.

I was getting some photos for another assignment, and when rummaging through the old box of photos I found some postcards and decided to go with that.  Researching paper, I found some Canadian sold, Indian produced A5 paper.  It's hand made, but it has seeds embedded in it so the sustainability has both pluses and minuses (I'm assuming they are Indian seeds and thus a bit of a biohazard, probably wouldn't survive here thought...so...maybe ok?).

Finally for colour and font I went with Dulse Sheep Design style guide requirements.  The colour only appears once (on the last card), and small display font is used (ITC Kabel Book).

In keeping with my style choice there is minimal information on the back: title, media, date.
The final card will have some personal and contact information.

Packaging, TBD.  Contents, TBD.
